The best tech partnership leaders can think like a product manager. Doing so helps in crafting better deals and forging stronger relationships with the Product team.

To learn how to think like a product manager there are two primary paths:

  • Spend time building products (and doing deals) with great product managers

  • Study great product managers and how they think

If you want to a view into the mind of a great product manager, I recommend Shreyas Doshi. Shreyas built product at Yahoo, Google, Twitter and Stripe. He is also prolific on twitter, where he tweets about product management as well as strategy, organizational psychology, leadership and life. Shreyas Doshi’s tweets are among the most substantive and insightful you will find on twitter.

Doshi left Stripe earlier this year and is rumored to be writing a book on product management. I expect his book will become a product management classic. But until he publishes it, below are some examples of Doshi’s wisdom.

You can follow him @shreyas.
